How we use and protect your data
As part of participation in the Teach Well courses, teachers and leaders may undertake surveys with the purpose of providing feedback to help teachers in Australia improve their teaching practices. Teachers and leaders may also collect student assessment data and share de-identified student data with us.
We have the highest regard for your personal information and your students’ privacy and realise that the success of our services depends on the trust that you have in the way we handle the data you provide to us. In terms of the collected data as part of the courses, Teach Well will store and handle the data securely. Specifically:
- No data is collected that can identify individual students. If teachers share data that is not de-identified and could identify individual students, we will remove this data from our records.
- Your aggregated, de-identified survey responses may be shared with education systems (such as members of the Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools) for the purpose of evaluating system-wide projects.
- Teach Well may also prepare reports that use aggregated de-identified data (including student outcomes data and survey responses) to explain the impact of the project to a range of stakeholders. All data will be treated with strictest confidence and no results which could identify any individual participant will be published without your prior agreement and explicit consent.
- You are entitled to withdraw your data at anytime in the future. Should you wish to do so, please contact us at [email protected].
We believe in the power of teacher voice to improve education in Australia. Each year we analyse aggregated teacher data to look for trends and learn more about how we can understand the impact of the courses and how we can improve our work in supporting teachers and leaders. By participating in the teacher and leader surveys, you agree your data can be used by Teach Well for such research and analysis.
SurveyMonkey hosts Teach Well surveys and stores and handles the collected data according to their privacy policy. Please review it here.
Teach Well’s reporting and communications
Teach Well is committed to ensuring we report the impact of our programs and activities transparently. To do this, we share some aggregated, de-identified data from the teacher and leader surveys on our website about the experience of teachers and leaders in the course. This aids system, school leaders and teachers to make informed decisions about the course and its fit for their context. An example of the high-level data from previous year participants from other Teach Well Series can be found on the Impact page of the Teach Well website. We do include a small number of quotes, written by teachers and leaders in their own words. We will contact you for your explicit permission to use a quote before publishing anything. You do not have any obligation to consent. Website As a participant in the course, you will be registered to the Teach Well website to access online resources. By being registered to the Teach Well website, you accept our Privacy Policy. Please review the Privacy Policy at http://teach-well.au/privacy-policy.
Photo and video release
The video you share of your teaching as part of the course is used by the Teach Well team only for feedback and coaching purposes. Occasionally, a participant has an excellent video example that could benefit future participants. If we identify this as a possibility, we will contact you directly to request your explicit permission and consent to share. Importantly, you have no obligation to share your footage for this purpose. Past participants from other Teach Well programs have said they found looking at past participant footage as either “Extremely Helpful” or “Very Helpful” and you will be the beneficiary of other teachers who have generously shared their footage to benefit teachers and leaders. If you would like to withdraw your previously granted permission at any time, please contact the Teach Well team at [email protected].
