Daily Review is a short review of learning at the beginning of each lesson, which creates a highly motivating environment with a high success rate that still challenges students. We use the Daily Review components (reteach-retrieve-apply) flexibly, with components removed when students demonstrate fluency.

Step 1: Prepare and Practise

Since you completed Task 3.1 (full-length Daily Review) for your focus class, you will have added new content to your Daily Reviews (perhaps that you introduced last week, or more than a month ago) and will also have removed content (as your students have mastered it).

Prepare your Updated Daily Review to be filmed, using the Daily Review poster and template as guidance.

Your Updated Daily Review will be slightly different to the Daily Review you submitted for Task 3.1. Please do not submit the exact same PowerPoint or plan.

Please upload your updated Daily Review under 3.2 Submit your Updated Daily Review.

 

Step 2: Film and Upload

You are required to film 5-10 minutes of footage of the prepared Daily Review, which demonstrates your use of full participation tactics and checking for understanding, for coaching feedback.

Video requirements
Before you film, ensure that:

1. You can get the footage off your device, for submission.
2. Choose 720p (or lower) film quality as this will produce a file that is not too large. Adjust film quality in the settings of the device as required.
3. Direct the camera at where you primarily stand and at the whiteboard/screen – we don’t need to be able to read the screen, but we do need to see what the students see.
4. Limit the movement of the camera.
5. Most of the time, the footage should record you talking and the student responses, (an occasional quiet voice/answer is ok).
6. Students are unidentifiable in the footage (not all students need to be in shot) – it works well if you place the camera somewhere towards the middle/rear of the room and the footage includes backs of student heads.
7. If students are identifiable in your footage, ensure you have permission for them to be filmed.
8. 1x 5-10 mins footage only. If you film an extended section of your lesson/review, please trim it to the 5-10 mins that you watched to complete your self-reflection.

Please note, we do not have the capacity to review any more than 5-10 minutes of video footage.
