1.2 Complete Teacher Pre-Course Survey

DUE DATE: Friday, 6 June (Term 2, Week 6)

Participants with a teaching load need to administer a student pre-course survey and complete a teacher pre-course survey.

The student survey is a key tool to help you understand the impact of the Masterclass Series on your students.

Student ID numbers

Before students undertake the survey it is essential that you assign them a unique ID number so we are able to match their pre and post-course survey data, while keeping their inputs completely anonymous. Below is a template that can assist you with this. Please ensure you save this list of ID number allocations as your students will need to use the same ID number when they complete the post-course survey near the end of the Masterclass Series.

For primary teachers with Year 3 and 4 classes

The student surveys are optional for Year 3 and 4 classes. Please email us if you would like to administer the survey with your class. You may read the questions to your class (without elaborating). The teacher survey is not optional and will need to be completed.

These two surveys provide you with a snapshot of your classroom. Teachers don’t often have many opportunities in their careers to find out (with an anonymous survey) what their students’ mindsets are like, what their students think of classroom behaviour or what their students think about their teaching, so this can be very interesting!

The questions in the student survey align to the questions in the teacher survey. You will receive a single report that has your students’ perceptions and your responses side-by-side, similar to this report below:

The student survey will take your class approximately 10-15 minutes and the teacher self-reflection survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes.

Information sheets

If you have any questions or would like some advice on how to administer the survey to your students, please download the appropriate information below. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

We look forward to sharing your report with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
.

Why does the teacher survey ask for my name?

So we can match your teacher responses to the student responses and send you your unique reports. Your individual data will be kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone. Aggregated, de-identified teacher data will be analysed and shared with various stakeholders. A minimum of 5 teachers will be required in a school for any school to see aggregated teacher data.

When will I receive my reports?

Your report should be available within a few weeks of the due date of the survey task. Please bear with us if there is a delay – we want to make sure your report is accurate and helpful. We also process reports on a whole cohort basis so delays by some teachers may hold up the process for an entire cohort.

What am I agreeing to by having my students complete this survey?

By having your students complete this survey you agree to share the de-identified anonymous student data with Teach Well for the purposes of preparing your personal report and analysing trends across cohorts of teachers. Teach Well undertakes to keep your responses strictly confidential and does not allow results that may identify you individually to be provided to your organisation or any other third party. We look forward to sharing your results with you!

What if I only have a few students in my class?

To produce a report each teacher will need to have a minimum of 8 students complete the student survey. This ensures confidentiality for student responses. If you have 6 or 7 students in your class, please email your Cohort Lead to discuss if the survey is suitable. Please complete the teacher survey even if you have less than 8 students in your class.
