At this stage of the Masterclass Series, participants can often see the impact of the changes in their teaching practices in a very visible way – for example, one or more students that have historically struggled are leaping ahead, there is an increase in general engagement and participation, or the first mini-assessments are showing marked increases in performance. In the MACS system, we know Literacy Leaders have been approaching the work of the Masterclass in different ways, for example:

• > Trialling the Masterclass practices in classrooms (for Leaders that have a teaching load).
• > Running professional learning with staff, showcasing practices from the Masterclass.
• > Supporting individual teachers to adopt and trial the high-impact instructional practices.
• > Coaching teachers in implementing the high-impact instructional practices.

We have found it is useful for leaders to reflect on how far they have come over the past months – to think of the changes they have made and the green shoots they can see – and to share the successes. Sharing Stories of Success can boost energy and motivation and continue to build momentum for change.

For this task, consider the following changes you might notice in your context and then complete the Sharing Stories of Success template below:

• > Changes you notice in your own classroom or in the classrooms of any teachers you support.
• > Changes in teaching practices to align more with high-impact instruction.
• > Changes in curriculum programs (including in-house programs) to reflect best practice.
• > Changes in student engagement and participation.
• > Changes in student performance (using student data e.g. through literacy assessments).
• > Any quotes, feedback and anecdotal stories or reflections from teachers and other school leaders.

Once complete, please submit your Sharing Stories of Success document below.

Now is also the time to support the Masterclass participants at your school in the process of reviewing the data they collected as a student baseline and comparing that to the post-course assessment they decided upon before commencing the course.

Once completed, they need to prepare and submit a short summary.
